ARTIST STATEMENT 2021

I have always been fascinated by science, biology, strategy, technology, nature and life itself.

I spent so much time in open spaces outdoors that I would try to paint them whenever I could but I could never really get the joy of being able to draw things the way I saw them.

I tried film photography and loved it, I was able to capture things that were not moving. I could take pictures of people who could stay still, but struggled capturing motion the way saw it in my mind.

Music was different. I could tell stories with my lyrics. It became like a journal for me.

But school activities, events, work, socials - they distracted me. Art and passion tends to be deprioritized.

I went back to photography decades later when Dr. Bao Le, a marketing client of mine, bought a digital SLR camera to capture the colorful marine life and aquascapes created by the Aquatic Gallery.

After the project, he gave me a good bonus and the almost brand new Canon camera. That got me seriously considering my photo-videography, my multimedia creation and opened me up to storytelling.

This skill set was further enhanced with the mentorship of Sarah Cooper of SpyCamp in San Francisco, who engaged me for seven wonderful years to train kids in Strategic Health and Safety, in STEM, and also to document our activities in innovation learning.

I have been blessed with many opportunities from family and friends and experiences that allow me the value of challenges, diversity and change.

I strive for the integration of body and mind and soul and spirit to pursue essential truths and develop passion for learning, teaching and sharing for myself and for others.

I am starting life fresh with the strength of a warrior, the wisdom of an elder, and yes, the awe of a child.

I completely embrace change for a better and kinder world without fear because the sun shines for everyone even if we do not see it every time.  Life is good, and the fractal spirit in us makes it so. A wise person said, “the more things change, the more things remain the same…” It is so because we are of one world.
